My name is Tiziana Comis and I was born near Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1961.

This is the site dedicated to my artistic activity , focused on the development of my personal concept of mosaic, as a refined "weaving" of glazes, marble, glass, metals, gold and several other materials.

The main references which inspire my works are the ancient art, the Byzantine art, the Bauhaus, the Swiss International Style, the modern and contemporary art.

Alongside this, I feel very attracted to ancient and modern textile art. I like to study and use, reinterpreting them, the varied and interesting patterns of the popular weaving in the various cultures.

What most characterizes my work is the optical phenomenon of sparkle incorporated into my patterns, unlike ancient or Roman mosaics, where the materials were not shiny but opaque, being natural stone.

To achieve this, in addition to Venetian enamels, I also use glass and metals (gold, silver, etc.).

I am a firm believer in the fact that art, culture and manual ability are always intimately linked.

I lived in various places on the southern side of the Italian Alps - from east to west - experimenting with the great cultural and artistic variety of this extraordinary environment.

By benefiting from the suggestive visions of the Alps chain, I had the opportunity to mature a direct relationship with the mountain landscape and to transpose its enchantement in my works, cultivating the two "alpine" qualities par excellence: patience and rigor.

I am often "on the road" between the three italian alpine regions of South Tyrol, Veneto and Piedmont; however I am always available in my e-mail, certified e-mail and social networks.

Tiziana Comis

Mi chiamo Tiziana Comis e sono nata vicino a Losanna (Svizzera) nel 1961.

Questo è il sito dedicato alla mia attività artistica, incentrata sullo sviluppo del mio personale concetto di mosaico, inteso come raffinata "tessitura" di smalti, marmo, vetro, metalli, oro e diversi altri materiali.

I principali riferimenti ai quali si ispirano i miei lavori sono l'arte antica, l'arte bizantina, il Bauhaus, lo Swiss International Style, l'arte moderna e contemporanea.

Accanto a questo, mi sento molto attratta dall'arte tessile antica e moderna - mi piace studiare e utilizzare, reinterpretandoli, i vari e interessanti schemi (pattern) della tessitura popolare nelle varie culture.

Ciò che più caratterizza i miei lavori è il fenomeno ottico dello sfavillìo inserito nei miei pattern, a differenza del mosaico antico o romano, dove i materiali non erano brillanti ma opachi, essendo pietra naturale.

Per raggiungere questo scopo, utilizzo oltre agli smalti veneziani, anche vetro e metalli (oro, argento ecc.)

Sono una convinta assertrice del fatto che arte, cultura e capacità manuale siano sempre intimamente legate.

Ho vissuto in vari luoghi del versante meridionale delle Alpi Italiane - da est a ovest - sperimentando la grande varietà culturale e artistica di questo straordinario ambiente.

Beneficiando delle suggestive vedute della catena delle Alpi, ho avuto l'opportunità di maturare un rapporto diretto con il paesaggio montano e di trasporre il suo incanto nelle mie opere, coltivando le due qualità "alpine" per eccellenza: pazienza e rigore.

Sono spesso "on the road" tra le tre regioni alpine italiane dell'Alto Adige, Veneto e Piemonte; sono comunque sempre raggiungibile nella mia casella di posta elettronica, posta elettronica certificata e social network.
